ABOUT
Project RED Light

MISSION & HISTORY.

Project RED Light is a student-founded organization designed to help educate and empower young people to both feel safer in their own communities and help stop violence against others, so we can all feel safer in our homes, local communities, and the world over.

The project was started by a 13 year old, middle-school student in 2022.  When she learned that her hometown in Central Florida was a national and global hub for human trafficking, and that girls (& boys) her own age were most at risk, she was surprised, and understandably a little scared.  She began asking questions about what she could do to both feel safer, but also to help others who'd already fallen victim or were at risk.

The result of her research is Project RED Light.  Collaborating with local authorities, she helped build a class curriculum to educate young people not only about basic self-defense skills, but also about the power of situational awareness. The classes also raise awareness about the issues of human trafficking and how to spot and support victims. Working with local law enforcement also helps strengthen the community, by opening a means of communication and trust between law enforcement and local youths.  These classes also help raise funds, which Project RED Light can then donate to non-profit organizations that support the same mission.
